Mrs. Redfield and Maddox Dey

Meet Maddox Dey — a 6th grader in Mrs. Redfield's class who decided the staff at Discovery deserved a little fun.

For his birthday AND Christmas, Maddox received a 3D printer. Instead of just making things for himself, he had a bigger idea. He spent an hour carefully printing 25 small ducks and hid them all around the building during conference week on Thursday.

Staff members began their week not knowing what was waiting for them… tiny 3D-printed ducks tucked on shelves, peeking around corners, and hiding in unexpected spots. Everyone had an absolute blast hunting them down — and the best part? They got to keep them!

But Maddox didn't stop there. He also hid one BIGGER duck, and whoever found it would win a very special prize: a pick from Maddox's personal 3D printer catalog. He'd print the winner anything they wanted — a pencil holder, a desk decoration, something just for them — made by hand, just because he wanted to.

And the winner? Mrs. Redfield herself!

It's hard to put into words how thoughtful this is. Maddox didn't just give gifts — he gave his time, his creativity, and his genuine desire to bring joy to the people who show up for kids every single day.

Discovery is so lucky to have you, Maddox. Thank you for reminding all of us what kindness looks like.
